Judicial Background and Legal Experience

As a Judge of the Superior Court of CA, County of Sacramento, (1997-2012), Judge Van Camp presided over more than 250 jury trials and 40 bench trials, with notable cases in business and commercial law, intellectual property, real estate and employment. His comprehensive judicial knowledge is complemented by his 23 years in private practice as a business and corporate securities attorney, specializing in commercial transactions and corporate formation, financing and operating issues.

Leadership and Regulatory Expertise

Judge Van Camp served as the California Commissioner of Corporations (1971-1974), regulating public securities offerings, broker-dealers, franchisors and commercial lenders. He also served in Governor Reagan’s Cabinet as Assistant/Acting Secretary of the Business & Transportation Agency, overseeing business regulatory agencies and transportation departments, including Caltrans, the Highway Patrol and the DMV, which further deepened his understanding of regulatory and administrative law. Earlier in his career, he served as a CA Deputy Attorney General in its Government Law division, advising the CA Secretary of State and a variety of state agencies.

  • · Travel and Expenses: No charge for travel time for multi-day hearings within California’s metropolitan areas by auto or train/flat rate of $1,000 each way by air; reasonable mileage and per diem rates.

  • · Cancellation Policy: $3,600 per day for multi-day matters on fewer than thirty (30) days’ notice.
